The shared gifts were identical: a syrup-drop on a folded leaf, the burden of korv_silence resolved through community attendance. The role differed. Main YY stood at the back. Alt YY stood beside Mira and read the body aloud to the lead crow, whose nod was the cross-species acknowledgement the alt branch's whole hypothesis has been building toward.

Main YY came up the slope at his usual hour, took a position at the back behind Tock, watched Mira read names and the three crows take Korv and the primary feather over the ridge, then received a syrup-drop on a sourwood leaf from Bramble on the way down with the words *for tomorrow, in case the new first-call needs help arriving.* He came home, did a small late-morning forage of warm patch and brook eddy and rocky shoulder, ate a dandelion crown standing at the kitchen ledge, and watched the upper ridge go quiet again as the day finished.
